The Task

Today you will be gathering information to complete your very own Presidential Resource Book! In order to complete this task, you will be visiting several different websites. DO NOT VISIT ANY OTHER WEBSITES! You will be finding information that includes your duties as president and the responsiblities of the Senate and House of Representatives. You will also need to include three interesting facts concerning EACH branch of government--executive, legislative, and judicial.

The Process
**Include all of the following information in your Presidential Resource Book! Your grade will be based on the effort you put into creating your book, so do a good job!**

  1. Before you begin, visit THIS website to see how the United States Government is divided. PRINT the diagram found at the top of the page.
  2. When you are ready, go see the teacher for your research packet.  
  3. Next you will need to determine your duties as President. Check out THIS website.  You will need to list three duties and include a brief description of each duty. 
  4. Now you will need to find and list three facts on the Executive Branch. Visit THIS website to find your facts.
  5. Then you will need to find and list three facts on the Legislative Branch.  Visit THIS website to find your facts.
  6. Next you will need to find out the duties of the Senate. Check out THIS website.  You will need to list three duties and include a brief description of each duty.
  7. Next you will need to find out the duties of the House of Representatives. Check out THIS website.  You will need to list three duties and include a brief description of each duty.
  8. Last, you will need to find and list three faces on the Judicial Branch. Visit THIS website to find your facts. 
  9. After you have gathered all of your facts, create a fancy cover for your book.  Make sure that you include all of your information sheets and the diagram printout. Feel free to include any other information about the government that you feel is important.
  10. When you are done, turn your Presidential Book into the teacher.

Conclusion

Hopefully you have learned valuble information about each branch of government and the duties of some important people and groups within the government.  You will always have your Government Resource Book to refer back to if you have any questions.  If someone asks you a question about the three branches of government or about the President, you should be able to answer the question.  Everyone did a GREAT JOB!
