This is a retelling task in which each group must explain the principals of progression and overload. Retelling tasks simply involve researching and demonstrating. The students will report what they have learned via poster boards, PowerPoint, short reports, etc. It is the most commonly found web quest and although it is not the most challenging, it can serve a purpose. |
The lesson simply involves the students researching and then portraying what they have learned. They are going to have multiple priorities to attend to for their final grade. |
Explain the principles of progression and overload (e.g., gradual increase in F.I.T.T.). |
The task: This lesson is designed for 7th and 8th graders in Physical Education. It also has purpose in weight lifting.
The students should know how to use the web to pull research and clip art. They must also know how to use word processing in the case of copying and pasting for the poster board. |
Process: All students must get into groups of three, no more than three, if one or two groups have only two partners that is fine. Each group will be responsible for constructing a poster board with the information they have researched on progression and overload.
Responsibilities of Groups
· Site by URL, where the research information came from (at least 3) · Pictures must be used (Benefits visual learners). · Explanation of purpose for every picture used. · Why progression and overload are important in fitness.
This assignment can be over winter or spring break. If done any other time during regular schedule, two classes would be an ideal amount of time to complete the assignment well. It would be best if the students worked at home, however time in class will be allocated for using the computer labs. |
Assessment/Evaluation
Students will be graded on four components taken strait from the group responsibilities.
