Copyright Assignment

1) What materials may be used freely without copyright permission?  Pieces of work that do not have originality, facts, ideas and US Government works

2)  What is the good faith fair use defense?  When the person who copied the work thinks that they did it fairly

3)  What are the four factors of the Fair Use Test which must be considered when using material?  Character of the use, nature of the work to be used, how much of the work will you use, what effect would this have on the market for the original or for permissions if the use were wide spread

4)  According to the Fair Use Guidelines for Education Multimedia, what are the limitations for  using the following materials: motion media, text material, illustrations and photographs? 

    - Motion Media- 10% or 3 minutes

    - Text Material-  10% or 1,000 words

    -  Illustrations and Photographs- used in its entirety; no more than 5 images by an artist/photographer, not more than 10 % of 15 images from a published work
