Introduction

Good Evening and welcome to your nightly news. Tonight we have exclusive interviews with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Task

Your task for this WebQuest will be to work in groups of four and research the Famous American your group is assigned. One member of your group will be the interviewer or news broadcaster. The second member of your group will be the Famous American and will answer the questions the interviewer asks. The third and forth members of your group will be designers. It will be their job to design the background of the set for the interview. After your research of your Famous American is complete the group will present the information to the class.

Process

1. Assign roles for the members of the group.

2. Find a photo of your Famous American.

    ~What did he or she look like? (This will be important for member number two. He or she will need to dress as your Famous American for the interview.)

3. Who is your Famous American? When and where were they born? What was his or her life like?

4. What did your Famous American work for? Why are they famous? Why do third graders need to learn about them?

5. Construct a list of questions and answers for your news broadcaster to ask your Famous American. 

6. Locate the answers to the questions you previously created.

7. Construct a background for your news broadcast. This should illustrate the principals and ideas of your Famous American.

Conclusion
