Welsh Sound prides itself on a workforce of diverse talents and people. We are always looking for motivated, skilled people in the Eastern Panhandle and Metro DC region that can provide the company with new talent. We maintain a large list of freelance engineers, designers, technicians, and operators that we can call on when productions or installs arise. Locally, Welsh Sound is highly concerned about the future of our company and of our region. We have partnered with the local Jefferson County school system on two fronts to make ensure we play an active part in promoting the greater good in our area. First, we formed a business partnership with North Jefferson Elementary School in Kearneysville, WV (the alma matter of our founder and, soon, of his daughter) Besides offering technical support to a variety of projects around the school, Welsh Sound has been able to donate 2 desktop computers and freely provide the equipment and staff once each semester for a movie night in the gymnasium that is open to the entire student body and their parents.
Additionally, Welsh Sound has maintained an active intern program for high school and beginning college students to gain professional experience with a working production company. Primarily drawn from Jefferson HS and Shepherd University, we are able to employ up to 2 interns for 12 months. The work done for us is paid and you will be gaining resume-building experience in addition to the monetary reward. Welsh Sound feel the internship experience is the best way to get into the industry, and while there will be late nights of pushing boxes and coiling cable, we make sure it is a learning experience for the intern, not just grunt labor. Welsh Sound handles all aspects of production, so don’t think we are only looking for huge guys that can dead life chain motors. While that is a great skill to have, we actively encourage and look forward to being able to work with people of all races, sexes, orientations, and backgrounds. We work for an incredibly diverse range of clients, its nice to unload the truck with an equally diverse road crew.
