Queen Bees

A Queen Bee is an adult mated female that lives in a bee hive or colony. The queen is usually the mother of most, if not all, of the bees in the hive. Queens are developed from larvae selected by worker bees and is fed in order to become sexually mature. All of the bees in the hive work to feed and protect their queen at all costs. Each hive only contains one queen bee.

Royal Jelly

Royal Jelly makes the queen bee a true queen bee. If she wasn't fed royal jelly from the start then she is just a normal worker bee. Royal jelly is a protein-rich secretion from the glands on the heads of young worker bees.

Virgin Queen

A Virgin Queen is a queen bee that has not yet mated with a drone. She is not a true queen until she is fed Royal Jelly as an egg.
