Sugar Cookies

These cookies are perfect for any holiday or party! You can use cookie cutters of any shape you wish or just roll in balls. These “crunchy on the outside”, and “soft in the middle,” are sweet and classically delicious and are sure to please all your guests!

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond extract
2 ¾ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons milk

Directions: In a large bowl, combine sugar, egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Add flour, baking powder, salt and milk; mix well with electric mixer until blended. Gather dough into a ball and wrap with plastic wrap. Chill dough in fridge for 1 hour. Heat oven to 400 Degrees F. Divide dough into fourths. On lightly floured surface, roll dough portion to ¼ inch- thickness. If using cookies cutters: dip cookie cutter into flour, and press cutter into dough. Add sprinkles if desired. Place 1- inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake for 6 -7 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Makes 2 dozen cookies.
