Resources
The following links can be used for both parts of the webquest, including the riddle and the trade description activity.
The Process
- Begin by selecting a riddle from the learning center.
These riddles will be provided intially, but future riddles will be
created by students using the learning center.
- Then you will use that riddle selected for the webquest activity.
- The riddle is a description of one of the 13 colonies
and you will use the internet resources to figure out which colony your
riddle describes.
- Upon solving the riddle the student will obtain a separate sheet of paper.
- With this paper you will draw an outline of the state
your riddle describes. On one side of the state you will rewrite the
riddle itself.
- Next, the other side will be used for the second part
of the webquest. In this part you will use the internet resources to
search for a trade (job) that colonists would have had.
- After finding a trade you will need to list it and
describe it by writing 2-3 sentences. This paper with the illustration
of the state, riddle, and trade description will need to be turned in.
Conclusion
Now that you have completed both activities you should
have a better understanding of the 13 colonies and their
characteristics. Also, you should be able to indentify and describe the
various trades that colonists had during colonial times.
