Ole' Mr. USA has 50 states to look after and each state has its own capital. You must know how important his duties are! Normally he does a fine job, but today the capitals seem to have wandered away. This causes a problem because the Fourth of July is coming soon and there will be a celebration for the birthday of Ole' Mr. USA. We can't possibly celebrate without the capitals! Therefore, it is your duty as a citizen to round up the 50 capitols and put them back where they belong.

Act as an investigator and find those capitals! Scroll down to the Process portion of the webquest and print your worksheet. Click on the links and use arrows to travel back and forth from this Webquest, to the sites, and back again. While you are visiting the sites, feel free to explore them, play the games, and gather the capitals along the way. Finally, when you have completed this task, your worksheet should be full of capitals, right where they belong!
Clicking on these links will lead you to sites that provide information about states and capitals. Use the arrows located in the upper left portion of your screen to return to this Webquest or to visit sites again.

When gathering data, pay close attention to locations of capitals. Be sure to do some extra research for fun facts about states and capitals!
The students will by now have found the correct location of each United States capital, including the states where they belong. They have done this by exploring sites designed specifically for educating students about the states and capitals. They have also explored facts about each state and its capital. This information could be used for map projects and further geographical studies regarding the 50 states.
