Choosing The Sport For You

It may take a while to find the sport that really fits what a prospective paddler is looking for. Anyone can participate in these sports as long as they are physically fit enough to do them. A big part of learning these sports is how fast a beginner can catch on, and how much frustration that person can deal with—this is a difficult endeavor, not a cakewalk. Most people will suggest that a person who has no whitewater experience should go rafting on a Class II-III river before attempting anything else, just to get a feel for the water. This can be very beneficial because some people are very excited about their first whitewater trip, but find that it’s not for them during it. These trips are normally half-day trips, so if you decide that this sport isn’t for you, you won’t have to suffer long.
