Purpose/Task: 

     The purpose of this webquest is to inform second graders through research and group work about germs and their effects on everyone, and why it is so important to wash your hands properly. The task of this webquest is to have the children work in groups to research germs so they can make a song and perform a dance or demonstration of hand washing that is to be shown on the morning announcements. Accompanying the song and dance there is to be a poster or visual about hand washing and or germs.

General Impressions:

    I liked this webquest right from the start because it started out with a song and that really caught my attention. I also thought the children would love the idea of making up their own song and dance routine, getting videotaped and having it played on the morning announcements. Hand washing is a really big deal and it should be taught at a young age so children know about germs and the result is becoming sick and possibly spreading them to others. I think every child would love to do this webquest!

Recommendations for incorporating it in the classroom:

    Instead of going all out and videotaping the children doing their song and dance they could just make it a classroom event and share their stuff with the class. Then at the end, the whole class can brainstorm some ideas and come up with a class song that everyone can learn and sing together. The posters can also be displayed on the wall for future reference of germs and practicing good hygiene.
