Evolution

1960's
Clothing is essential to attracting members of the opposite sex. During the early 1960's elegance was key, with women like Jacqueline Kennedy at the forefront. The late 60’s however brought shorter hemlines and less inhibition…hence the sexual revolution.
1970's
The flames from the sexual revolution of the 1960’s still kindled during the early 1970’s. Hemlines were still short, however the introduction of the bell bottom was the main stay of the 1970’s
1980's

The 1980’s were synonymous with greed. This love of money was reflected in the clothing of the 1980’s. Everything was big and the more expensive the clothing the better your position in society.

1990's
The 1990’s were a time of reflection. Long gone were the days of Dynasty. The era of big shoulder pads and bigger hair faded away. American’s began to shy away from the flash gaudiness of the 1980’s. The fashion of the 1990’s reflected more conservative spending.
Today
Today fashion is relative. Yes, clothing can still be expensive as in the 1980’s, however it no longer defines us. On any given day one can spot anyone from the fashion conscience to the hippie of the 1960’s. We have learned not to take ourselves too seriously as in the past.
