Professor Baker received her Bachelor’s degree from Shepherd College in 1998, and, after a brief stint as an accountant, returned to graduate school to study English Language and Literature at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.  She is currently revising and preparing to defend a dissertation in which she seeks to develop a postmodern aesthetic based upon the many manifestations of Helen of Troy in contemporary literature.  In what little spare time she has between teaching and writing, Professor Baker also raises a pit bull and two (nearly housebroken) teenage stepdaughters.  It’s no wonder that her favorite pastimes are either curling up in an armchair with a cup of coffee and a thick novel or prepping a big meal for Sunday’s big game.
