Poems on Paper: Techniques to Convey Emotions

1. ACROSTIC:
A series of written lines or verses in which the
first of last letter form a word or a phrase

2. CONCRETE:

3. HAIKU:
A Japanese poem written in 17
syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables each.

5. LIMERICK:
A type of humorous verse of 5
lines in which the 1st, 2nd, and 5th line
rhyme with each other and the 3rd and 4th lines (which
are shorter) also rhyme with each other.
There once was a kid who was fat
He never ran
or jumped, he just sat
He decided to get slim
And joined the town gym
He’s back in good shape, you can’t beat that!
6. RHYMING:
A poem that rhymes.
