Nessie

One of the most famous cryptids in the world is the creature known as the "Loch Ness Monster", or "Nessie" as it is more commonly called. The creature is said to inhabit Loch Ness in Scotland, Loch Ness is the largest lake in Great Britain. According to Cryptozoology.com the first sighting of Nessie came in 565 A.D. when Saint Columba, who was in Scotland to spread the gospel, needed to cross the loch, one of Columba's men swam out into the loch and the beast rose out of the water as if it was going to attack the man. Columba rebuked the creature and it drew back into the water "as if pulled by ropes". Sightings are said to have grown since the 1930's when roads were built giving the public more access to the loch. The most famous photograph of "Nessie", known as the "Surgeons Photograph", was taken by Colonel Robert K. Wilson (http://www.cryptozoology.com/cryptids/nessie.php).
