Testing of the racks was done as soon as the fiber was connected to the racks. We checked for communication between the switches and also communication with the network. Jason Kerr connected to the switch with the software that was pre-installed in the switch. The software was web-based interface for testing and security of the switch.

        Using our cable tester we did testing for the room connection. The cable tester could be used for testing 10 base T, 10 base 2, fiber (multi band and single band) and other types of network cables. We also use Jason’s hand held computer, the HP Jornada. This is running Windows CE. With this computer we could connect to the network to see if the connection works, and make sure accessing the Internet was all done in the testing.
