Doing a Feature story takes usually a phone call, but sometimes it could be covering an event that is meant for a feature story, such as a sports breakfast, a sidebar for a game or a high school senior in the area is signing a letter of intent to a college.

Most times, these story types don't have specific deadlines, but need to be ready when they are meant to be run for print.

Here's some feature type notes from a sidebar, which is one of the features that has a specific deadline of the night of the coverage because it is done at the exact same time the game being covered is going on.
