Shepherd University Physical Education

Circulatory, Respiratory, Nervous and Endocrine System

Purpose:

This lesson is created for fourth grade physical education students who are learning about one or all of the above human body systems. This lesson can be used if a student is absent (short or long term), if the gym is occupied, if the weather is in climate, homework or maybe to fill a technology project. WV Content Standard 4.1.03 is covered in this lesson (describe major organs of the circulatory, respiratory, nervous, endocrine systems of the human body).

Description:

From this lesson the student will be able to describe the major organs of the circulatory, respiratory, nervous, endocrine systems of the human body.

The Task:

This lesson is created for fourth grade physical education students who are learning about one or all of the above human body systems.

The students will need to know how to print from a computer and how to look up information from the web before doing this task.

Process:

The circulatory, respiratory, nervous and endocrine systems are all parts of the human body. What are the major organs in each system? Print out a blank form for each system then look on the internet to find the names and locations of each organ. Label the black forms your print out from this website.

This lesson will be done in groups of two students decided by Mrs. Lowe in the computer lab. Each student will fill out their own form and turn it in separately, but can find the answers in their group. This project will take two class periods during cold weather days.

Assessment/Evaluation:

Once the students have handed in their work I will review the sheets and mark correctly incorrect answers. I will return the sheets once graded and review the correct answers with the entire class. Each correctly designated organ will be worth one point. There will also be a short in class quiz to determine what the students have learned.

See links below to see desired answers for the students. Also, evaluate the student’s choice of medial field. There is no right or wrong answer but there should be a concise answer to the question.
