PURPOSE

PE. 6. 3. 03: Indentify lifestyle behaviors to increase physical activity (i.e. taking stairs, walk/ride bike to school)This lesson is for the sixth grade students to come up with different ways they can improve their normal lifestyle behaviors. They will be required to first think of normal ways in which they do certain activities, i.e. getting a ride across down the street to a friend’s house or something of that nature. This is for any days that the student has missed due to excused absences or if they have missed an assignment at school.

DESCRIPTION

From this lesson the student will be able to think of different healthier options that can increase physical activity in their normal lifestyle behaviors.

THE TASK

This is to help the students out and spread the word to other who may be trying to stay fit on a day to day basis.

Students will need to be able to access a computer and have a ride to different locations around town in order to collect as much information needed as possible.

Takings stairs, and walking or riding your bike to and from school are some options. Research and/or ask others what some other options are to increasing physical activity. Type up responses and print and hand in the next time you come to class.

The lesson will be done individually and everyone will have to weeks to complete the assignment.

ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION

Students will present their completed task to the class as if they were giving a wellness lecture. Students will be graded on their content and they will also hand in a hard copy for me to grade as well. All of the ideas will be put together and handed back to the students for ideas if they want to possibly help others.
