PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP/CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT

You should attend a conference that is related to you major, concentration, and career goals.

Save you name tag, conference brochure, registration receipt

All conference information and this form go to your advisor

You must attend a minimum of six hours in conference sessions.

This can be done by attending

Two 3 hour or half-day sessions

Four 1 hour and 15 to 1 hour and 30 minute sessions

Six 50 minute to 1 hour sessions

One full day of the conference

(The keynote speaker counts as a session)

(The exhibit area does not count as a session)

If you do not complete this length of time in session – the conference will not count as out of class requirements

At conferences, there is a presider or person who sits in the back of the room to hand out information or sign continuing education forms. This person can sign your form at the end of the session.

You do not need to sign up for CEU’s or continuing education units

Dress and behave as professionals while attending conferences!

You are representing Shepherd University and the HPERS Department

The people you meet at conferences are prospective employers

Your professors know many of the people who attend these conferences

(We talk about conferences with them whether we attend or not!)

Appropriate dress includes:

Business Casual

Casual dress pants

Golf/Rugby style shirt (collared)

Matching sweat suit

Inappropriate dress includes: (Do not wear these)

Shorts or cut-offs

Sweats made of sweatshirt material

Anything that shows your belly button or your underwear
