 Merfolk
Mermaids and Mermen have the upper body of a human
and the lower body of a fish or seal. They live in the sea
and beg sailors to come to them. Merfolk are typically
accused of drowning their victims and then eating the nose,
eyes, fingertips, and private areas. The victim’s body is
then left on the beach to rot.
Mermaids often raise storms with her singing. Some
scholars in the Middle Ages have debated whether or not the
mermaids singing was her actually raising the storm or if
the singing was the result of her animal instinct to
recognize a storm was brewing.
