Naming all parts of the speech

Write sentences and underlining each part being used.

 

 

Noun: a noun is the name of a person, place, or thing.

(a)     I walk to my school each day.

 

    Pronoun: Is used in place/ instead of a noun.

(a)   Please give me your assignment before you

                    go home.

 

     Verb:   A word or phrase that expresses action, existence, or occurrence.

(a)   Robert threw a good ball during rehearsal today.

 

     Adverb:  A word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

                (a)The couple walked slowly toward the park.

 

    Adjective: A word or combination of words that modifies /describes a noun.

(a)   The thief drove off in a blue-green Ford.

 

  Conjunction: A word that connects other words, phrases, or sentences.

(a)   I got a cold because I didn’t wear my coat to school.

 

 

   Interjection: A word, phrase, or sound used as an exclamation and capable of standing by itself.

 (a) My goodness! That pizza sure does smell good.

 

 

    Proposition:  A word or phrase that shows the relationship of a noun to another noun.

                        (a) The valentine was sent by Mary to Robert.
