As pupil read the selection, they will think
about the title and cover illustration. Example, What do you think the Smith
family will do to protect themselves?
Comprehension skill focus:
Sequencing of events
1. A volunteer will be chosen to read
aloud pages1 thru 5. Stop after “its cold” Mrs. Smith said, “Our house is
freezing cold.”
2. Pupil will read the first box on the
event map. Teacher will demonstrate how
to complete sentence and record the answer.
3. as pupils read, fill each box, until
they are all completed. Pupils will group into two’s to check each other’s
progress.
