| Dr. Austin joined the Shepherd University faculty in the fall of 1997 after completing a Ph.D. at the University of California at Santa Barbara. His primary scholarly interests are the literature of the Restoration and the Eighteenth Century and the intersections between literature and religion in all periods. Dr. Austin has published books and articles on a diverse range of literary topics, including Aphra Behn, Abraham Cowley, Daniel Defoe, John Bunyan, Samuel Richardson, Saul Bellow, Tony Kushner, Terry Tempest Williams, contemporary mystery fiction, and the Book of Genesis. In 2004, Dr. Austin became the Dean of Graduate Studies for Shepherd University. |
