Prerequisites: MATH 154 or MATH 254, and MATH 207 or MATH 205.
Learning outcomes: Successful students will be able to:
Identify physical processes governed by Partial Differential Equations (PDEs)
Classify and derive PDEs
Define a classical solution to PDEs and solve PDEs
Derive orthogonal series expansions for solutions of PDEs
Solve PDEs using computer algebra systems
Course Content: Chapters 1-4 from the textbook
Grading Scale: A=90-100; B = 80-89; C = 70-79; D = 60-69
Course Policy:
General course policy applies.
An oral exam will be conducted towards the end of the course as part of the course assessment.
In-class assignments will carry a lot of weight. Assignments will be collected on time. Late submissions will not be encouraged.
