Textbook : Linear Algebra and its applications, by David C. Lay, Third Edition (Update)

Prerequisites: MATH 154 or MATH 254, and MATH 207 or MATH 205.
Learning outcomes: Successful students will be able to:
Solve a system of linear equations
Define linear independence of vectors.
Define Vector space, Linear transformation, relationship between a linear transformation and its matrix
Compute the dimension and a basis for the range and nullspace of a matrix
Define and compute the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a matrix.
Course Content: Chapters 1-5 from the textbook
Grading Scale: A=90-100; B = 80-89; C = 70-79; D = 60-69
Course Policy:
General course policy applies.
An oral exam will be conducted towards the end of the course as part of the course assessment.
In-class assignments will carry a lot of weight. Assignments will be collected on time. Late submissions will not be encouraged.
Chapters will be covered in the following order: 1,2,4,3,5, to maintain a continuous flow of concepts.
