Reflection of My Experience
I didn’t realize upon entering this class that it would be so technology oriented. I’m not really good with computers and I have never even heard of service learning before this class but I feel all that has changed. In this class I’ve not only learned how to build a good paper but a good argument and support for that argument. I also learned skills I will need later in life like website and résumé building and also how to use valuable software applications that can help me in other classes like Microsoft office. I learned a lot about working in group as well. A portion of my grade relied on the other members of my group and even with one person missing I still think we accomplished all our goals and in a timely matter. My group was very cooperative, very organized and very easy to work with. I loved having the constant flow of ideas just in case someone was stuck. We also got along very well which made things very easy. Working in a group helped me with my communication skills and also allowed step up creatively which I don’t get to do very often.
I never would have thought that writing a paper would also help me but it did. The information I researched about stem cell therapy is information I need to know as a nursing major and also exposed me to new ways to research and databases to search from. My argument essay on child sexual abuse was also a useful tool. In the nursing world will be important for me to know the other aspects of abuse besides clinical like emotional and psychological. This class has allowed me to grow creatively which is something I won’t get in a lot of my other classes. I got to do a lot of things I’ve never done before and will help be understand the world outside of college a little better.
